The Evangelist’s Pen

"Seek the Face of the Lord"

We are truly living in the last days. Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" I cannot imagine a time in the history of mankind when this was more true than today. But the worst part of all is that much of the church is the guiltiest of all. It would seem that the general feeling is, as long as we say we are doing it in the name of the Lord, then it is "Christian." We must remember that "not all that glitters is gold." Many have forgotten that we are to seek that which is pleasing to the Lord, not ask the Lord to bless that which is pleasing to us. We surely ought to be concerned about "redeeming the time", "for the night cometh when no man can work." If we are ever going to win the lost, it must be now. There is no more time to fritter away. There are two primary things which are of singular importance in these last days. The first is that God’s Word still says, "Follow ... holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:" (Hebrews 12:14) I mention this one first, because it is essential to the other. The first thing to notice is that God says we shall never see eternity with Him without holiness. The only thing that sets us apart as being the people of God is the very apparent presence of His Spirit within us. All else is false pretense. The signs will follow when we are clean before Him, and through Him. The second primary thing is that "The Lord ... is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9) The only way we can possibly be effective in accomplishing the great commission is by returning to holy living before God and lifting up Christ instead of self. It is time, high time, that the people who call themselves by the name of the Lord begin to look like, act like and sound like the real thing. It’s very simple really. Just ask Him to manifest His holiness in you. As Paul said, "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Ephesians 4:24) Simply putting on the new man again, thereby clothing ourselves with the righteousness of Christ which is imputed unto us will make us "truly holy," as stated above.

Won’t you join me now in seeking God’s face for that outpouring of His Spirit, just now? Heavenly Father, pour your Spirit upon us as we pray, in Jesus precious, holy name.
