"Get Up, Go On"
In a few words I would like to expound on the motto of Calvary Ministries, "...contending for the faith…" This quote is taken from the book of Jude,
1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude warns us vehemently that some have crept in unawares, perverting God’s grace and His Word and (by their lives) denying the Lord Jesus.
Peter says this, in I Peter 1:10 "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:", and again in I Peter 4:17-19 -
4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
Jesus contended for our faith. Paul, Peter and the apostles of old contended for our faith. I am contending for the faith. You ought to contend for your faith!!
The life of a professing Christian is easy
— but the life of a warrior in the army of the Lord is fraught with danger every step
of the way. And the life of the worker for the kingdom of God will be a busy one
indeed!
Get Up, Go On
This victory is but one step
from this one to the next,
this win o’er our enemy
just prepares us to be blessed.
We must go on, and fight again,
if Heaven we would win;
for falling back on vict’ry past
is nothing less than sin.
Get up, go on and arm yourself,
get in the thick of the fight,
for this alone is the sure way
to know the Lord and His might.
